Living a Life Full of Faith and Goodness
A good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. (Acts 11:24)
Introduction
In Acts 11:24, we read about Barnabas, a man described as "a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith." This description of Barnabas sets a high standard for what it means to live a life dedicated to Christ. Today, we draw inspiration from the life of Christian Atsu, an international football (soccer) star whose life and faith mirrored these qualities.
Reflection
Christian Atsu, renowned for his talent on the soccer field, was also a man deeply rooted in his faith. Known for his incredible sportsmanship, he once said, “Jesus is the best thing that ever happened in my life.” His words were not merely a statement of belief but a declaration of the source of his strength and hope. Atsu’s faith was evident not only in his words but in his actions. He consistently posted Bible verses on social media, sharing his faith with the world. Moreover, his commitment to Christ was shown through his philanthropy, notably his contribution to building a school for orphans, offering them hope and a future.
Application
Like Christian Atsu, we are called to live lives that reflect our faith in Christ. This means not only speaking about our beliefs but also putting them into action. Atsu’s life reminds us that our talents and platforms, no matter how large or small, can be used to glorify God and serve others. Whether we are athletes, teachers, business professionals, or students, we can live out our faith by showing kindness, generosity, and integrity in all we do. By doing so, we not only honor God but also inspire those around us to seek Him.
Conclusion
Christian Atsu’s life exemplified what it means to be "a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith." His legacy is a testament to the power of a life lived for Christ, influencing countless individuals both on and off the soccer field. As we reflect on his story, let us be encouraged to live out our faith boldly and compassionately, making a difference in the lives of those around us.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we thank You for Christian Atsu's example and unwavering faith in You. Help us to be like him, living lives full of goodness, faith, and the Holy Spirit. Give us the courage to speak of Your love and the wisdom to act in ways that reflect Your grace and mercy. May our lives be a testament to Your goodness, inspiring others to seek You. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
