Praying the Scriptures

Saturday Evening Prayer

July 20, 2024

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weakness.” So, I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. Therefore I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities for the sake of Christ; for whenever I am weak, then I am strong. (Jeremiah 32:38–39)

O Lord, our Heavenly Father,

in whom we find eternal refuge and steadfast love, we come before You as the night unfolds its quiet blanket over the earth. You have promised, O God, to be our God, and we, Your people, united by Your gracious covenant that binds us in everlasting peace.

As we gather in the sanctity of this evening, remind us, Lord, that we are Yours and You are ours. In Your wisdom, You have vowed to give us one heart and one way, that we may forever fear You for our good and the good of our children after us.

Grant us, O Merciful Father, a heart that seeks Your face in all things—a heart that is steadfast in love, unwavering in faith, and unyielding in hope. Knit our hearts together, that as one family under Your divine providence, we may cherish and uphold each other in every word and deed.

As we lay down to rest, protect us through the silent hours of this night. Refresh our spirits and renew our minds, that we may awaken to Your new mercies, ready to walk yet another day in Your one true way, glorifying You in all that we do.

For You are our God, and we are Your people, forever walking the path You have set before us, guided by Your Spirit, strengthened by Your love, and secured by Your promises. In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray, Amen.

I hope this prayer brings you peace and inspiration as you end your day.
