Praying the Scriptures

Friday Evening Prayer

July 26, 2024

The Lord exists forever; your word is firmly fixed in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast. By your appointment they stand today, for all things are your servants. (Psalm 119:89–91)

Eternal and Almighty God,

Your word, O Lord, is everlasting; it stands firm in the heavens. Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. By your ordinances, everything stands firm today, for all things are your servants.

As we come to the end of this day, we pause to reflect on the steadfastness of your word and the reliability of your promises. In an ever-changing and often uncertain world, we find comfort and security in your unchanging love and eternal truths.

Thank you, Lord, for the day that has passed, for the blessings we have received, and for the challenges we have faced. We entrust our efforts and our shortcomings to your merciful care, knowing that you are always faithful to forgive and guide us.

Grant us a restful night, free from worry and fear. As we sleep, may your angels watch over us, and may your Holy Spirit renew our hearts and minds. Prepare us for the coming day with renewed strength and a deeper sense of your presence.

We pray for those who are struggling tonight, for those who are ill, lonely, or in distress. May they find solace in your promises and hope in your eternal word. Comfort them with your loving presence and surround them with your peace.

We place our trust in you, O Lord, and rest in the assurance that your word is true and your love is everlasting. Thank you for being our constant refuge and strength.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
