Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
July 24, 2024
Do not, therefore, abandon that confidence of yours; it brings a great reward. For you need endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised. (Hebrews 10:35–36)
Gracious and Loving God,
As the day draws to a close and the night begins to enfold us, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude and hope. Your word in Hebrews 10:35–36 reminds us, "Do not, therefore, abandon that confidence of yours; it brings a great reward. For you need endurance, so that when you have done the will of God, you may receive what was promised."
Lord, we thank You for the confidence You have instilled within us through Your grace and love. In moments of doubt and weariness, help us to remember that this confidence is not in our own strength, but in Your unfailing promises and everlasting faithfulness.
As we reflect on the challenges and triumphs of this day, grant us the endurance to stay the course You have set before us. Strengthen our resolve to do Your will in all things, knowing that Your plans for us are good and perfect. May we remain steadfast in faith, trusting that the reward You have promised is beyond our understanding, yet ever so near through the hope we have in Christ.
Forgive us, Lord, for the times we have faltered or strayed from Your path. Renew our spirits tonight, filling us with peace and rest, so that we may rise tomorrow with renewed vigor to serve You and our neighbors.
In the quiet of this evening, may Your presence surround us, bringing comfort to our hearts and clarity to our minds. Let Your light shine upon us, dispelling any shadows of fear or uncertainty.
We pray this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you comfort and strength as you reflect on God's promises this evening.
