Praying the Scriptures

Sunday Morning Prayer

July 21, 2024

My soul longs, indeed it faints for the courts of the LORDd; my heart and my flesh sing for joy to the living God. Even the sparrow finds a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, at your altars, O Lord of hosts, my King and my God. Happy are those who live in your house, ever singing your praise. (Psalm 84:2–4)

Gracious and Loving God,

This morning, our souls yearn and faint for Your courts. With a longing heart and spirit, we come before You, seeking Your presence and the warmth of Your love. Just as the psalmist cried out, we, too, find our joy and strength in You, the living God.

Blessed are those who dwell in Your house, O Lord, for they are ever praising You. We aspire to dwell in Your presence, to bask in Your glory, and to offer our praises without ceasing. Fill our hearts with the joy and peace that come from being close to You.

Today, as we embark on our daily journey, let our steps be guided by Your wisdom. May we find comfort in knowing that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of need. Let our hearts sing for joy to the living God, and may our lips continually offer praise to Your holy name.

Strengthen us to serve others with kindness and grace, reflecting Your love in all we do. As the sparrow finds a home and the swallow a nest for herself, so may we find our true home in You, where our hearts can find rest and our souls be nourished.

In Your presence, we find our deepest joy. Keep us close to You this day and always.

In Jesus' name, we pray,

Amen.

May this prayer bring peace and inspiration to your morning.
