Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
August 16, 2024
Trust in him, and he will help you; make your ways straight, and hope in him. You who fear the Lord, wait for his mercy; do not stray, or else you may fall. You who fear the Lord, trust in him, and your reward will not be lost. (Sirach 2:6-8)
Gracious and Loving God,
As the day draws to a close, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude and trust. Your Word in Sirach reminds us to rely on You wholeheartedly, and so we place our faith and hope in Your eternal goodness.
O Lord, give us the strength to endure life's trials with unwavering faith, knowing that You are always with us. Help us to remain steadfast in our commitment to You, especially when we face challenges that test our resolve.
Teach us, O God, to trust in Your promises and to wait patiently for Your deliverance. May we seek Your guidance in all things and lean not on our own understanding, but on Your infinite wisdom and love.
As we prepare for rest, grant us peace in our hearts and minds. Fill us with the assurance that You are our refuge and strength, a very present help in times of trouble. Renew our spirits and prepare us for the day ahead so that we may continue to walk in faith and serve You with joy.
We ask this in the name of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
