Praying the Scriptures

Friday Evening Prayer

August 2, 2024

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18)

Heavenly Father,

As the day draws to a close and we prepare to rest, we turn our hearts and minds to You. We are reminded of the words of the Apostle Paul, who wrote, "What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the human heart conceived, what God has prepared for those who love him" (1 Corinthians 2:9). We marvel at the mysteries and blessings You have in store for us, far beyond our understanding.

Lord, we thank You for the glimpses of Your goodness and the revelations of Your Spirit. Though we may not fully grasp all that You have prepared, we trust in Your promises and Your eternal love. As the night covers the earth, let Your peace cover our hearts. Illuminate our paths with the light of Your wisdom and the guidance of Your Spirit, who reveals to us the depths of Your truth and love (1 Corinthians 2:10a).

Grant us restful sleep and renew our spirits for the day ahead. May we awaken with hearts full of gratitude and eyes open to see Your work in our lives and the world around us. Help us to live in faith, hope, and love, continually seeking Your presence and trusting in Your divine plan.

In Jesus' name, we pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
