Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
August 23, 2024
Therefore, brothers and sisters, be all the more eager to confirm your call and election, for if you do this, you will never stumble. For in this way, entry into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be richly provided for you. (2Peter 1:10–11)
Gracious and loving God,
As the day comes to a close and the quiet of the evening surrounds us, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude. We thank You for guiding us through the challenges and blessings of this day, and we ask for Your continued presence as we rest.
Lord, Your Word reminds us to be diligent in confirming our calling and election so that we may never stumble. Help us, O God, to live each day with intentionality and purpose, striving to grow in faith, virtue, knowledge, and love. Strengthen our resolve to follow the path You have set before us, knowing that it leads to Your eternal kingdom.
As we lay down to rest, grant us peace and assurance that our lives are secure in Your hands. May we always seek to make our calling and election sure, not through our own strength, but through the grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Keep us safe through the night, and may we awaken tomorrow with renewed vigor to serve You with our whole hearts. Until that day when we enter into Your everlasting kingdom, keep us steadfast in our faith and grounded in Your love.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord,
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
