Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
August 9, 2024
“For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” (Matthew 18:20)
Gracious and Loving God,
As we gather this evening, in the quiet of our hearts or the company of others, we pause to acknowledge Your presence among us. We are grateful, Lord, for the assurance that where even two or three are assembled in Your name, there You are in our midst.
As night descends, we reflect on the day that has passed—its challenges, its joys, and the moments of grace that sustained us. We lay before You, O God, all our actions, thoughts, and interactions, trusting in Your boundless mercy and love.
In the stillness of this night, renew our spirits and deepen our communion with You and with one another. Let this sacred time be a testament to the unity and peace that You offer to those who gather to honor Your name.
Guide us in dreams and in rest so that we may awaken refreshed and renewed, ready to walk in Your ways and bear witness to the light of Your truth in the world around us.
In the name of Jesus, who gathers us and holds us together, we pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
