Praying the Scriptures
Monday Evening Prayer
August 5, 2024
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.” (John 6:68–69)
Loving and Eternal God,
As the day draws to a close, we turn to You, the source of all wisdom and grace. In the quiet of this evening, we reflect on Your words of eternal life, spoken through Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Lord, like Peter, we confess that there is no one else to whom we can turn, for You alone have the words of eternal life. You are the Holy One of God, our Redeemer and Guide, the One in whom we believe and trust.
Grant us the faith to cling to Your promises, even when the path is unclear, and our hearts are weary. Strengthen us to follow You faithfully, trusting in Your infinite love and mercy. May Your words dwell richly within us, guiding our thoughts, actions, and decisions.
As we lay down to rest, may Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Refresh our spirits, renew our strength, and prepare us for the day ahead so that we may continue to serve You with joy and gratitude.
In the name of Jesus, our Savior, we pray. Amen.
May this prayer bring peace and reflection to your evening.
