Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
August 14, 2024
O that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your prosperity would have been like a river, and your success like the waves of the sea. (Isaiah 48:18)
Heavenly Father,
As we settle into the evening's calm, we reflect on Your words through the prophet Isaiah: "O that you had paid attention to my commandments! Then your peace would have been like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea."
Lord, we acknowledge the times we have wandered from Your path, distracted by the noise of the world. In this quiet moment, we seek Your forgiveness and the peace that we often forsake. Teach us to cherish Your commandments, not merely as duties but as pathways to a profound and sustaining peace.
Let Your peace, like a river, flow through the complexities of our lives, smoothing the rough stones of hardship and cleansing us of our burdens. May Your righteousness rise in us like mighty waves, strong and relentless in pursuit of what is just and good.
As night falls, envelop us in Your tranquility. Restore our weary spirits and prepare us for the challenges ahead. Protect us through the night, and may we rise in the morning refreshed and committed to walk in Your ways.
Bless those in need of Your peace tonight, those who face turmoil and uncertainty. May they, too, feel the comforting presence of Your Spirit, guiding them towards restful shores.
In Your holy name, we pray,
Amen.
May this prayer bring you comfort and strength as you reflect on God's promises this evening.
