Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Morning Prayer
August 3, 2024
The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world came into being through him; yet the world did not know him. He came to what was his own, and his own people did not accept him. But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God. (John 1:9–12)
Heavenly Father,
As the new day dawns, we thank You for the true light that enlightens everyone, shining into the darkness of our world and our hearts. We remember the words of Your holy scripture, which declare that the true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world. Though the world did not recognize Him, we rejoice in the grace that allows us to see and receive Him.
Lord Jesus, we are grateful for the gift of Your presence among us, a presence that brings hope, truth, and salvation. Even though You were not known by many, You have revealed Yourself to those who seek You. We acknowledge our own times of blindness and confusion when we have not recognized Your light in our lives. We ask for Your forgiveness and seek to open our hearts more fully to Your truth.
Today, we stand in awe of the power of Your love that transforms us. You have given us the right to become children of God, not by our own merit, but by Your grace. As we go about our day, help us to remember this great honor and responsibility, to live as Your children, reflecting Your light in our actions, words, and thoughts.
Fill us with the courage to walk in Your ways, to embrace Your teachings, and to share Your love with others. May we be a beacon of Your light in the world, bringing hope and comfort to those in need. Strengthen our faith, deepen our love, and guide us with Your wisdom.
In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior, we pray.
Amen.
I hope this prayer brings you peace and inspiration as you start your day.
