Praying the Scriptures
Thursday Morning Prayer
August 8, 2024
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility regard others as better than yourselves. Let each of you look not to your own interests, but to the interests of others. Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 2:3–5)
Gracious and loving God,
As the dawn breaks and a new day begins, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude. We seek to walk in the light of Your truth and love, following the example of Christ, who showed us the way of humility and selflessness.
Lord, Your Word teaches us in Philippians 2:3–5 to do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility to regard others as better than ourselves. We are called to look not to our own interests, but to the interests of others. Help us, O God, to embody this spirit in our daily lives.
Grant us the grace to set aside pride and to serve others with a willing heart. May we reflect the mind of Christ, who, though He was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant.
In our interactions today, may we be mindful of the needs of those around us, offering kindness, compassion, and love. Teach us to see Your image in each person we encounter and to honor them as Your beloved children.
Lord, fill our hearts with Your peace, guide our thoughts with Your wisdom, and inspire our actions with Your love. As we strive to follow the example of Christ, may we grow in unity and fellowship, shining as lights in the world.
In the name of Jesus Christ, who humbled Himself for our sake and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and inspiration for your day.
