Praying the Scriptures
Monday Evening Prayer
September 2, 2024
As servants of God we have commended ourselves in every way: through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger; … We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet are well known; as dying, and see—we are alive; as punished, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything. (2 Corinthians 6:4–5, 8b–10)
Gracious God,
As the day draws to a close, we come before You in humble gratitude. We acknowledge that in everything, we strive to show ourselves as Your servants. Through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, and calamities, we seek Your strength. In beatings, imprisonments, and tumults, we lean on Your wisdom. In labors, sleepless nights, and hunger, we trust in Your provision.
Though we may face honor and dishonor, praise and blame, may we remain steadfast in our devotion to You. As impostors, yet true; as unknown, yet well-known; as dying, and see, we are alive; as punished, yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything.
Lord, in the midst of our trials and tribulations, fill us with Your Spirit. May we endure with patience, embody Your love, and stand firm in faith. Guide us to reflect Your light in every moment, especially when darkness surrounds us. Let our hearts be a testament to Your grace, always finding joy in Your presence.
Grant us peace this evening, Lord, as we rest in the assurance that You are with us through all seasons of life. Strengthen us for the journey ahead, and may we rise tomorrow with renewed courage to serve You faithfully.
In Jesus' name, we pray,
Amen.
May this prayer bring peace and reflection to your evening.
