Praying the Scriptures
Monday Morning Prayer
September 2, 2024
As servants of God we have commended ourselves in every way: through great endurance, in afflictions, hardships, calamities, beatings, imprisonments, riots, labors, sleepless nights, hunger; … We are treated as impostors, and yet are true; as unknown, and yet are well known; as dying, and see—we are alive; as punished, and yet not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich; as having nothing, and yet possessing everything. (2 Corinthians 6:4–5, 8b–10)
Gracious and Everlasting God,
As the morning light dawns, we come before You with hearts full of gratitude. We thank You for the gift of this new day, a fresh opportunity to serve You and to grow in faith.
In the spirit of Your Word, we are reminded that in everything we do, we strive to commend ourselves as Your servants. Through endurance, in afflictions and hardships, in labors and sleepless nights, we look to You for strength and guidance. May we face each challenge with courage, knowing that You are with us, sustaining us through trials and lifting us in moments of weakness.
Grant us the grace to live authentically, to speak truth in love, and to embody Your righteousness, even when misunderstood or slandered. Help us to remain steadfast, living as though we possess all things in You, despite the world's perception of poverty or sorrow.
Lord, let our hearts be filled with joy, even in sorrow, and our spirits be enriched, even when we feel we have nothing. May our lives be a testimony of Your grace—poor, yet making many rich; having nothing, yet possessing everything.
We pray for Your peace to guide us, Your love to surround us, and Your wisdom to direct our paths today. In all things, let us be Your faithful servants, reflecting the light of Christ in our words, our actions, and our thoughts.
In Jesus' name, we pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and strength as you start your day.
