Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Evening Prayer
October 15, 2024
But when he heard this, he said, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. Go and learn what this means, ‘I desire mercy, not sacrifice.’ For I have come to call not the righteous but sinners.” (Matthew 9:12–13)
Heavenly Father,
On this serene October evening, as the cool breeze whispers through the falling leaves, I come before You in humble adoration, seeking Your divine wisdom and boundless compassion. Lord, You spoke through the Gospel, saying, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick," reminding us of Your profound call to mercy and Your presence among those in need.
As the day closes and the shadows lengthen, I pray that You instill in me a heart that seeks out the lost, the broken, and the ailing. Teach me, Lord, to be a physician of souls, to carry Your light into the dark corners of despair, and to offer hope where it has dwindled.
Help me to remember that You came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. Inspire me to extend Your grace to those who feel unworthy, to love without condition, and to forgive without hesitation. May my actions reflect Your boundless mercy and may my words echo Your inclusive love.
Tonight, as I lay down to rest, I ask for the strength to rise tomorrow with a renewed spirit, eager to serve as Your hands and feet in a world that yearns for kindness. Let me be a beacon of Your love, a testament to Your transformative power.
In Your holy name, I pray,
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
