Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Evening Prayer
October 22, 2024
So now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you? Only to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. (Deuteronomy 10:12)
Heavenly Father,
As I stand beneath the vast expanse of this New Mexican sky, painted with hues of twilight this Tuesday evening, my heart dwells on Your words in Deuteronomy: "So now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God require of you? Only to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul."
Lord, guide my steps so that they may walk in Your ways. Teach me to serve You with a heart full and overflowing with love. Let my soul cling to the reverence due to You alone, finding in each breath and each moment an opportunity to demonstrate my devotion.
As the sun sets and the coolness of the evening embraces this land, I ask for the grace to love and serve those around me with the same steadfastness and passion with which You love us. May my actions reflect Your mercy and justice, extending Your peace and kindness to every soul I encounter.
In this quiet hour, let me be a vessel of Your light, illuminating the paths of those seeking direction, offering warmth to those chilled by loneliness or despair. Strengthen me, O Lord, that I may bear Your goodness like the night carries the stars—silent yet splendid, constant yet comforting.
In Your holy name, I pray,
Amen.
May this prayer bring peace and reflection to your evening.
