Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Evening Prayer
October 29, 2024
Happy are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O Lord, in the light of your countenance; they exult in your name all day long, and extol your righteousness. (Psalm 89:15–16)
Gracious God,
As dusk settles over the land of enchantment, with hues of amber and deep blue painting the sky of this New Mexican October evening, my heart turns to You, and I rejoice in the sound of Your name.
Blessed are those who know the joyous sound of Your love, O Lord. Like those who walk in the light of Your face, I feel the pulse of divine rhythm in the gentle evening breeze and in the quiet whisper of the turning leaves.
As night deepens, let the knowledge of Your righteousness uplift my spirit. Let me dance in the light of Your presence, for in Your name my heart exults all the day. By Your grace, I am upheld, and by Your mercy, I find my strength.
Tonight, as every star finds its place in the New Mexican sky, let Your steadfast love be my guide. Illuminate my path with the light of Your truth, and guard my heart with the peace of Your Spirit.
In the quiet hours that follow, renew me, O Lord, and prepare me for the tasks of tomorrow. Let the joy of Your salvation ring true in every word I speak, in every thought I think, and in every deed I do.
In the name of Jesus, who lights our way, I pray,
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
