Praying the Scriptures

Tuesday Evening Prayer

October 8, 2024

You therefore, beloved, since you are forewarned, beware that you are not carried away with the error of the lawless and lose your own stability. But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. (2 Peter 3:17–18)

Heavenly Father,

As the amber hues of October skies gently fade into the calm of night, I come before You in humble prayer. Strengthened by the wisdom of Your holy Word, I am reminded, O Lord, by the Apostle Peter's counsel, to be on my guard so that I may not be carried away by the errors of the lawless and lose my stability.

Grant me, O God, the grace to grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Let Your truth be the anchor that holds steadfast in the shifting sands of this world. As the leaves turn and fall, so let the remnants of my errors and misunderstandings be shed from my spirit.

Deepen my understanding, increase my faith, and expand my capacity for love and patience. May I glorify You in all that I do, lifting high the name of Jesus, through whom all grace and truth flow.

To Him be glory both now and to the day of eternity.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
