Praying the Scriptures
Monday Morning Prayer
October 21, 2024
Another angel with a golden censer came and stood at the altar; he was given a great quantity of incense to offer with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar that is before the throne. And the smoke of the incense, with the prayers of the saints, rose before God from the hand of the angel. (Revelation 8:3–4)
Heavenly Father,
On this crisp October morning, under the vast expanse of New Mexico's sky, I come before You in humble adoration. As the golden hues of dawn break across the horizon, I am reminded of the altar before Your throne, where an angel offers incense mixed with the prayers of all the saints.
Lord, let my prayer rise before You like incense this morning, the lifting of my hands as the evening offering. In the quiet of this day’s beginning, I lay my petitions and praises at Your feet, trusting in Your eternal grace and mercy.
As the smoke of the incense ascended in the vision shown to John, carrying with it the prayers of the faithful, so may my prayers mingle with those of my brothers and sisters across the earth, ascending to Your heavenly throne. May they be pleasing to You, O God, as we seek Your face and Your will for our lives.
In the moments of silence that follow, let my heart listen for the gentle whisper of Your Spirit. Guide my thoughts and actions today so that I might serve as a beacon of Your love and truth. Protect, heal, and comfort those in need, and let us all feel the peace of Your presence.
I thank You for this day, for the beauty of Your creation, and for the breath in my lungs. May my life be a continual prayer, my every act a testimony to Your goodness.
In the name of Jesus Christ, I pray,
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and strength as you start your day.
