Praying the Scriptures
Thursday Morning Prayer
October 31, 2024
Let those who fear the LORD say, “His steadfast love endures forever.” Out of my distress I called on the LORD; the LORD answered me and set me in a broad place. With the LORD on my side I do not fear. What can mortals do to me? (Psalm 118:4–6)
Heavenly Father,
On this crisp Halloween morning under the vast New Mexico sky, I come before You in humble gratitude. Let those who fear the Lord say, "His steadfast love endures forever." In the chill of dawn, as the colors of the desert sunrise blend with the silhouettes of yucca and mesa, Your love casts out the shadows and warms my soul.
Out of my distress, I called on You, and You answered by setting me in a broad place. On this day, when the world indulges in masks and merriment, I find my true refuge in You. With You beside me, I do not fear; what can mere mortals do to me?
Lord, as Your light breaks through the morning clouds, scatter the fears that haunt the corners of my mind. Embolden my spirit to share Your enduring love, to speak Your truth amidst the playful screams and the laughter of children seeking treats. Let my actions reflect Your grace, as I hand out candies and smiles, remembering that in every small act, there is a whisper of Your love.
May this day be a testament to the joy that comes not from fright but from the freedom found in Your embrace. As pumpkins glow and leaves crunch underfoot, let my heart be steadfast in celebrating this day You have made, rejoicing and being glad in it.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and inspiration for your day.
