Saturday Evening Prayer
November 2, 2024
So if you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. (Colossians 3:1–2)
Heavenly Father,
As the hues of the sunset blend into the cool desert night, I turn my heart toward You, seeking the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at Your right hand. In the quiet of this All Souls Day, I set my mind on things above, not on earthly things.
Lord, on this sacred evening, we remember those who have journeyed ahead of us to Your celestial abode. With grateful hearts, we recall their love, their voices, and the legacy they left in our lives. As the stars begin to brighten the vast New Mexican sky, each light reminds us of the eternal home you have prepared for us all.
Grant us the peace to accept the mysteries of life and death and the wisdom to cherish the memories of those we love. As we navigate the challenges and joys of this earthly journey, help us to focus on the eternal, cultivating virtues that reflect Your love and grace.
May this night be a comfort to all who mourn and a reminder of the hope we have in Christ Jesus. Bless our gathering, our conversations, and the silence that speaks of Your presence. As the cool air whispers through the mesa and the sage, let it carry our prayers and reflections to You, our everlasting peace.
Amen.
