Praying the Scriptures

Tuesday Evening Prayer

November 19, 2024

God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong. (1 Corinthians 1:27)

Lord of the Desert Sunsets,

As the hues of Your creation paint the sky this November evening, I stand humble and small beneath the vast expanse. Your Word tells us, "God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong."

In this quiet hour, I thank You for choosing the unexpected paths and for planting Your strength in the soft sands of our weaknesses. In the whisper of the chaparral and the chill that dances across the mesa, Your wisdom unfolds in ways we least expect.

Here, in the heart of New Mexico, where the earth meets the sky in a symphony of color and life, remind me that Your greatest works often come in the simplest forms. Let the humility of the desert teach us the power of Your grace, where small and forgotten things reveal Your glory.

As the stars begin to pierce the twilight, light our hearts with the fire of Your Spirit. Guide us in Your wisdom so that we might love more deeply, serve more faithfully, and walk more closely with You, even when the path seems unclear.

In Your name, I find my strength and my song.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
