Praying the Scriptures

Tuesday Evening Prayer

November 26, 2024

O that you would tear open the heavens and come down, so that the mountains would quake at your presence—as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil—to make your name known to your adversaries, so that the nations might tremble at your presence! (Isaiah 64:1–2)

Heavenly Father,

As the chill of November descends upon the New Mexican desert and the hues of the sunset paint Your sky, I come before You in humble adoration.

"O that you would tear open the heavens and come down, so that the mountains would quake at your presence—as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil—"

Lord, as these words from Isaiah stir my spirit, I long for Your presence to envelop our world, shaking the mountains of hardship and igniting the brushwood of our complacency. Let Your fire transform the ordinary waters of our lives into a fervent boil, passionate and pure.

On this quiet Tuesday evening, I pray for Your Spirit to move through our community like a mighty wind, clearing paths of peace and fostering flames of love. As the stars begin to dot the expansive New Mexican sky, remind us of Your infinite reach and Your intimate care.

May our hearts be open like the vast deserts, receptive to Your divine touch. Teach us to wait in hopeful expectation, not just for signs and wonders, but for the gentle whisper that calls us closer to You.

In the serenity of this night, under the watchful eyes of heaven, renew our spirits, deepen our faith, and kindle in us a fire that never fades.

In the name of Jesus Christ, our Savior,

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
