Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Morning Prayer
November 26, 2024
O that you would tear open the heavens and come down, so that the mountains would quake at your presence—as when fire kindles brushwood and the fire causes water to boil—to make your name known to your adversaries, so that the nations might tremble at your presence! (Isaiah 64:1–2)
Gracious and Almighty God,
This New Mexican morning awakens with hues of desert gold and the cool embrace of November's breath. As I stand beneath this endless sky, I am reminded of Your power and majesty, the One who tore open the heavens and came down, making mountains tremble at Your presence.
Lord, I yearn for Your nearness today. Rend the heavens once more and touch this earth with Your holiness. Like fire kindling dry brushwood, ignite my heart with fervor for Your ways. Let Your presence burn away the chaff in my life, purifying me to reflect Your glory.
As the winds of this desert stir the sands, so let Your Spirit stir within me. Shake the complacency from my soul and awaken me to Your call. Make me bold in faith, trusting that even in the vast quiet of this landscape, You are at work—turning my prayers into action, my hopes into purpose.
Lord, guide me through this day with humility and strength. Let me bring peace to those I encounter, joy to those in sorrow, and light to those in darkness. May my words and deeds glorify You, O God, who moves mightily and tenderly in our midst.
I lift this prayer to You, O Rock and Redeemer, with thanksgiving for Your steadfast love. May this day be an offering pleasing in Your sight.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and guidance as you start your day.
