Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Morning Prayer
November 23, 2024
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away—and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. (John 10:11–12)
Heavenly Father,
As I greet the dawn of this New Mexican November morning, with the cool air whispering of winter's approach, I am reminded of Your Son, the Good Shepherd, who declares, "I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away—and the wolf snatches them and scatters them."
Lord, I pray that Your courage and steadfast love fill my heart today. As the shepherd cares for his flock, so do You care for each of us, never forsaking us, always guarding and guiding. Help me to embody this same devotion in all I do—caring for those You have placed in my path, never turning away from those in need.
Grant me the strength to face the wolves of this world, the trials and troubles that I encounter. May I not flee in the face of adversity but stand firm in Your love, a beacon of Your light and peace.
Bless this day, O Lord, that I may be an instrument of Your will, walking in the assurance that You are with me, my protector and guide.
In the name of Jesus, the Good Shepherd, I pray,
Amen.
I hope this prayer brings you peace and inspiration as you start your day.
