Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Evening Prayer
December 29, 2024
Praise the LORD! O give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever. (Psalm 106:1)
Gracious and Loving God,
Tonight, as the glow of Christmas continues to warm my heart, I lift my soul in thanksgiving to You. Praise the Lord! O give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever.
In this quiet New Mexican evening, I see Your goodness reflected in the beauty around me—the stars twinkling like tiny gifts in the desert sky, the crisp air whispering of Your peace, and the joy of family and friends shared in this sacred season.
I thank You for the gift of Your enduring love, which was made manifest in the birth of Jesus, my Savior. Just as the Magi journeyed under the guidance of a star, I pray that I may follow Your light faithfully in the days to come.
Forgive me, Lord, for the times I have forgotten to thank You or failed to recognize Your blessings. As the day fades, I seek Your grace to fill the gaps in my love and faithfulness. Strengthen me to carry the hope and light of this season into every corner of my life.
May the spirit of Christmas—the spirit of giving, loving, and praising You—remain not just for twelve days but for all the days of my life. Tonight, I rest in the assurance that Your steadfast love, like the New Mexican sky, has no end.
In the holy name of Jesus, I pray.
Amen.
I hope this prayer brings you comfort and peace through the night.
