Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Morning Prayer

December 26, 2024

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Gracious and loving God,

On this Second Day of Christmas, I rise in gratitude for the gift of Your Son, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world.

For You, O Lord, so loved the world that You gave Your only begotten Son, so that all who believe in Him may not perish but have eternal life. In the quiet of this New Mexican morning, I pause to reflect on the vastness of Your love — a love that reaches across deserts and mountains, across hearts near and far, a love poured out without end.

Today, as I stand within the shelter of Your grace, I ask that my life reflect this great love. May I extend kindness to others, sharing the light of Christ with all whom I encounter. Let my words speak truth, and let my actions flow from a place of compassion. Just as the sun warms the desert sands, may Your Spirit ignite a fire in me to proclaim the wonder of Your gift to the world.

Lord Jesus, on this day, when we continue to celebrate Your incarnation, I pray that Your presence fills my home and my heart. Let peace reign here, not just for myself but for my neighbors and my community. Teach me to love as You have loved me — sacrificially, wholly, and without hesitation.

As I reflect on the manger that cradled You, Lord, I am reminded of Your humility. Strip away my pride, soften my heart, and help me follow Your example, living in humble service to others.

On this Christmas morning, may I embrace the truth that You are the reason for every season, the source of joy and the hope of eternity. I thank You, God, for the unmeasurable gift of salvation offered through Jesus. I surrender myself to Your care and Your will, trusting that Your love will sustain me through this day and always.

In the name of Jesus Christ, who came to bring life and light to the world, I pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and inspiration for your day.
