Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Morning Prayer
December 24, 2024
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord.… And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God and saying, “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!” (Luke 2:10–11, 13–14)
Heavenly Father,
As the sun rises over this desert land, I pause in the stillness of this Christmas Eve morning to hear the angels’ proclamation echoing through time:
"Do not be afraid; for see—I am bringing you good news of great joy for all the people: to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is the Messiah, the Lord."
Lord, my heart is filled with gratitude for this message of hope. In this season of waiting and fulfillment, I open my soul to the wonder of Your love made flesh, dwelling among us. The good news of Jesus’ birth fills me with awe, and I am humbled by the thought of Your glory shining in such a humble place.
Like the heavenly host, I lift my voice this morning, joining the angels in their song:
“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace among those whom he favors!”
Here in New Mexico, where the beauty of the earth reflects Your handiwork, I pray that Your peace will settle upon this land. Let it fall like the gentle adobe light of dawn, warming hearts and softening the struggles of life.
O God of peace, help me to carry this joy to others today. Whether it’s through a smile, a kind word, or a quiet prayer for a neighbor, may I be a bearer of Your good news. As the luminarias light the paths this evening, may my life also shine with the light of Christ, leading others to the hope of salvation.
Thank You for the gift of this day, Lord. Thank You for the Savior, born to us, born to me. In the name of Jesus, the Messiah, I pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and guidance as you start your day.
