Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Morning Prayer

December 25, 2024

For a child has been born for us, a son given to us; authority rests upon his shoulders; and he is named Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)

Heavenly Father,

On this sacred Christmas morning, as the first light stretches across the desert and illuminates the mesas and mountains, I come before You with a heart full of wonder and gratitude. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given. What a gift, Lord! What a promise fulfilled!

I feel the warmth of Your love in the glow of the morning sun, in the crisp, cool air that carries the scent of piñon wood burning. Today, I remember that this child, Jesus, is not just a story but the Prince of Peace, the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father.

As I sit in this quiet moment, I am reminded of the deep and abiding peace that You bring—peace that settles like snow on the desert floor, soft and quiet, yet powerful enough to transform everything it touches.

Lord, let this day be more than tamales and luminarias, more than red and green chile and the laughter of loved ones. Let this day be a celebration of Your glory and a renewal of my faith in the one who was born to carry my burdens, heal my wounds, and lead me into everlasting light.

Prince of Peace, reign in my heart today. Let Your light shine in every word I speak, every thought I have, and every act of love I offer. May the joy of Your birth radiate from me to those around me, like the candlelight of farolitos that guide the way in the night.

Thank You for this gift, Jesus. Thank You for Your love, Your grace, and Your hope.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you strength and encouragement as you go about your day!
