Praying the Scriptures
Thursday Evening Prayer
January 2, 2025
For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name. I pray that, according to the riches of his glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. (Ephesians 3:14–17a)
Heavenly Father,
As the light of this ninth day of Christmas fades into the New Mexican sky, I kneel before You, humbled by the vastness of Your love. Tonight, beneath the quiet majesty of the desert stars, I bow my heart to You, the Creator of heaven and earth, from whom every family in heaven and on earth takes its name.
Lord, I pray that out of the riches of Your glory, You would strengthen me with power through Your Spirit in my inner being. Let this strength fill the spaces within me that feel weary and worn. May Christ dwell in my heart through faith, filling me with the peace of His presence and the assurance of His love.
As the cool desert breeze whispers across the sands, I am reminded of the gentle and steadfast nature of Your Spirit. Let Your presence settle within me as softly as snow upon the mountains, rooting and grounding me in love. Fill me with a deep sense of belonging, knowing that Your love transcends the boundaries of time and place.
On this sacred evening, I give thanks for the gift of Jesus, whose coming we celebrate in this season of joy. May His light continue to shine in the darkness of this world and in the corners of my own soul, guiding me into deeper communion with You.
Father, as I lay down to rest tonight, may my heart overflow with gratitude and my spirit be renewed in the knowledge that You are with me, dwelling within me, and drawing me closer to the fullness of Your love.
In the name of Jesus Christ, the Savior born for us, I pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort as you end your day.
