Praying the Scriptures

Thursday Evening Prayer

January 9, 2025

But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord your labor is not in vain. (1 Corinthians 15:57-58)

Heavenly Father,

As the New Mexican sun sets behind the rugged mountains, painting the sky with hues of gold and crimson, I pause in the stillness of this January evening to give You thanks. In the quiet of this moment, I am reminded of Your victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Thank You, Father, for giving me the assurance that, no matter the trials I face, I stand firm in the triumph of the cross. The chill of the desert night reminds me of life’s challenges, yet Your warmth and steadfast love are my shelter.

Strengthen me, Lord, to remain steadfast and immovable in my faith. Help me to abound in Your work, knowing that every act of love, every word of encouragement, and every moment of service is not in vain. It is for Your glory and rooted in the hope of the resurrection.

Tonight, I offer You my labors of the day, whether great or small, trusting they are sanctified by Your Spirit. As the stars begin to light the vast New Mexican sky, may my heart shine with the same brilliance, a beacon of Your love and grace to those around me.

Grant me rest tonight, Lord, that I may rise tomorrow renewed and ready to continue in Your work. With gratefulness, I lay my burdens at Your feet, confident in Your faithfulness to carry me through.

In the victorious name of Jesus Christ, I pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and comfort as you end your day.
