Praying the Scriptures
Tuesday Evening Prayer
January 7, 2025
Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you. Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. (Isaiah 60:1–3)
Lord of all creation,
As the sun sets beyond the mesas and the first star appears, I come before You to seek Your radiant light in my life. "Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you."
In the quiet of this evening, where shadows mingle with the fading light, I pray that Your glory, which surpasses all darkness, illuminates my heart and guides my path. For though the night grows deep, and the earth lies in profound stillness, Your light, O God, endures forever.
As I rest in Your presence tonight, let Your light penetrate the shadows of my doubts and fears. May Your glory be seen upon me, drawing others out of their darkness, guided by the beacon of Your love and truth.
In the hope of Your eternal light, I find peace this night, trusting that Your glory will guide me through tomorrow, just as it illuminates the heavens above New Mexico.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
