Praying the Scriptures

Tuesday Morning Prayer

January 7, 2025

Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will appear over you. Nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn. (Isaiah 60:1–3)

Gracious Creator of light and life,

As the sun rises over the desert sands, painting the skies with hues of fire and gold, I feel Your presence awakening the world around me. Arise, O my soul, and shine, for Your light has come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon me. Though shadows may linger, I am not afraid, for Your light pierces through every darkness, guiding my steps.

In the stillness of this New Mexican morning, I hear Your call to be a reflection of Your glory. Just as the mountains stand firm and the cactus blooms in due season, may I stand firm in faith and bloom in Your love. Draw the nations to Your light and kings to the brightness of Your dawn. Let my life be a beacon of hope and a testimony to Your grace.

As I walk through this day, let the beauty of Your creation remind me of Your promise. From the vastness of the desert to the song of the sparrow, You proclaim that You are with us. Let me carry that light within, sharing it with everyone I meet.

Bless this day, Lord, and all who journey through it. May Your light shine upon them and give them peace.

In Jesus’ holy name,

Amen.

May this prayer bring you peace and strength as you start your day.
