Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Morning Prayer

January 1, 2025

Pray then in this way: Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:9–10)

Heavenly Father,

On this bright New Year’s Day and the eighth day of Christmas, beneath the vast New Mexican skies, I come before You in prayer. As the morning light stretches over the mesas and the chill of winter brushes against the sagebrush, I am reminded of Your majestic creation and steadfast love.

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be Your Name. Your presence sanctifies this new beginning, making sacred the ordinary moments of our lives. As the sun ascends, let Your Name be praised in every corner of our state—from the bustling streets of Albuquerque to the quiet trails of Taos.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. In this new year, I pray for Your kingdom of peace, justice, and love to manifest more fully in our world. Help us to see Your hand in the beauty around us, and in the faces of our neighbors. May we live as faithful stewards of Your creation and as bearers of Your peace.

Grant us the grace to align our desires with Your divine will, to act with compassion, and to serve with humility. As we continue celebrating the joy of Your Son’s birth this Christmas season, let us carry that joy into the new year, spreading hope and light wherever we go.

In the name of Jesus, who came to us as the Light of the World, we pray.

Amen.

May this prayer bring you strength and encouragement as you go about your day!
