Praying the Scriptures

Monday Evening Prayer

February 3, 2025

For in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Galatians 3:26-27)

Gracious and loving God,

As the sun sets over the wide, open desert of southwestern New Mexico, and the chill of the February night creeps into the air, I pause to reflect on Your boundless grace and my identity as Your beloved child.

"For in Christ Jesus I am Your child through faith. As many of us as were baptized into Christ have clothed ourselves with Him." These words echo in my heart tonight, reminding me that in You, I am no longer defined by my shortcomings or my past. Instead, I am wrapped in the garment of Christ’s love, mercy, and righteousness.

The stillness of the evening invites me to draw closer to You, to remember the promises of my baptism, and to renew my faith in Your unchanging presence. Thank You for welcoming me into Your family, for clothing me in Christ’s redeeming grace, and for giving me a place at Your table of love.

Lord, as I gaze at the stars scattered across the night sky, I am reminded of the vastness of Your creation and the unity of all Your children, clothed in Christ regardless of our differences. Help me to live out this truth, sharing Your love with those I encounter and embracing the beautiful diversity of Your family.

May this evening be a time of peace and rest. Fill my heart with gratitude, my mind with thoughts of You, and my spirit with the joy of belonging to Christ. Watch over me and those I love tonight, O God, and guide us in Your ways until the dawn breaks again.

In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior,

Amen.

May this prayer bring solace and inspiration as you end your day in reflection and peace.
