Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Evening Prayer
February 23, 2025
After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10)
O Lord,
As the sun sets behind the rugged peaks of Red Mountain and the cool desert air settles upon this land, I come before You in gratitude and awe. The vastness of the night sky reminds me of the great multitude John beheld in his vision—people from every nation, tribe, and language, standing before Your throne, clothed in white, crying out:
"Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!"
Tonight, beneath these heavens that stretch from horizon to horizon, I feel the echo of their song in my heart. Though I stand here in solitude, I am never alone, for I am part of that great gathering—redeemed by grace, drawn into Your eternal kingdom, and called to worship You alongside saints of every time and place.
Lord, as the wind whispers through the sage and mesquite, let my prayers rise to You like incense. Quiet my heart from the burdens of this day and fill me with the peace that comes only from You. Help me to remember that no matter how desolate the desert may seem at night, Your presence is always near, and Your promises endure forever.
Wrap me in Your mercy as I rest, O God. Just as You sustain the land through seasons of drought and rain, sustain my soul with the living water of Your Spirit. Keep my heart ever turned toward You, so that when the morning dawns, I may rise to serve You anew.
Salvation belongs to You, O Lord, and to the Lamb—now and forever.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and comfort this evening.
