Praying the Scriptures
Sunday Morning Prayer
February 23, 2025
After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. They cried out in a loud voice, saying, “Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!” (Revelation 7:9-10)
Gracious and Eternal God,
As the first light of dawn stretches across the desert floor, casting hues of gold and crimson upon the rugged mountains, I lift my heart to You in thanksgiving. The crisp morning air carries the scent of mesquite and sage, reminding me of the beauty of Your creation and the steadfastness of Your promises.
This February morning, as the cool wind whispers through the stillness, I am humbled by the vision of the great multitude that John beheld—people from every nation, tribe, and tongue standing before Your throne, clothed in white, their voices raised in one accord:
"Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!"
Lord, let my voice join in this heavenly chorus even now. May my words, my thoughts, and my actions today reflect the truth that I am part of this great gathering—redeemed, washed clean, and called to bear witness to Your grace.
In the vastness of this desert, I see a reflection of Your boundless love. Just as You provide for the creatures that roam these lands—the eagle soaring high, the coyote wandering the arroyos—so too do You provide for me. I rest in the assurance that I am never alone, for You are the shelter that shades me from the midday sun and the light that guides me through the darkest valleys.
As I step into this day, Lord, grant me a heart that welcomes all, just as You welcome all into Your kingdom. Let me see my neighbors not as strangers, but as fellow travelers on this journey of faith. Fill me with compassion, that I may bear witness to Your love in both word and deed.
May this day be a song of praise, a testimony of Your faithfulness, and an offering of thanksgiving. And when the evening comes, as the desert sky glows with the last light of day, may I rest in the peace of knowing that I am held in Your mercy, forever part of the great multitude who declare Your glory.
In the name of the Lamb who was slain and now reigns forever, I pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you peace and inspiration for the day ahead.
