Praying the Scriptures

Sunday Evening Prayer

February 9, 2025

You who live in the shelter of the Most High, who abide in the shadow of the Almighty, will say to the LORD, “My refuge and my fortress; my God, in whom I trust.” (Psalm 91:1–2)

Holy One,

As twilight settles over the desert, and the February wind whispers across the sage and yucca, I turn my heart toward You. In the hush of this southwestern New Mexico evening, I recall that You are my shelter and my shade. Like the towering mesas that offer me a place of rest in the waning light, You stand strong and steady—my refuge and fortress.

I breathe in the cool night air and gaze at the vast expanse of stars overhead, reminded that Your presence covers me like the sky. In this sacred stillness, I offer my trust: You are my protector through every season, and I find safety in Your embrace.

Tonight, I abide in Your shadow with gratitude, confident that no matter how chilly the desert nights become or how uncertain tomorrow may feel, You remain my stronghold. Receive my evening prayer as an act of faith, and grant me peaceful rest beneath the constancy of Your love.

Amen.

I hope this prayer brings you comfort and peace through the night.
