Praying the Scriptures
Wednesday Evening Prayer
February 26, 2025
I lift up my eyes to the hills—from where will my help come? My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth. (Psalm 121:1–2)
O Lord,
As the sun sets behind the peak of Red Mountain, I lift my eyes to the hills, to the vast and silent desert stretching beneath the twilight sky. The land rests beneath Your hand, painted in hues of amber and violet, and I am reminded that my help comes from You, the Maker of heaven and earth.
The cool evening breeze whispers through the mesquite and sage, and in its quiet rustling, I hear Your presence. The stars begin to awaken, each one placed by Your mighty hand, a testament to Your unfailing watchfulness over me.
As this day comes to a close, I lay before You my burdens, my worries, my joys, and my gratitude. You have guided my steps through the wilderness of this life, just as You have shaped these ancient lands. I trust in Your care through the night ahead, for You neither slumber nor sleep. You are my refuge when the winds rise, my peace when the world is restless, my shelter when the night is long.
Lord, let my heart be still in You. As I rest beneath Your endless heavens, may I find renewal in Your presence and strength for the coming dawn. I place all things in Your hands, knowing that You are ever near, my Keeper, my Sustainer, my God.
In the name of Christ, my Redeemer, I pray.
Amen.
May this prayer bring you comfort and strength as you reflect on God's promises this evening.
