Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
March 28, 2025
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. (1 John 2:1–2)
Heavenly Father,
As the sun fades behind the peaks of the mountains, painting the desert sky with hues of amber and violet, I come before You in the stillness of this evening. The coolness of the March breeze whispers through the mesquite and sage, and I am reminded of Your ever-present grace that refreshes my soul.
Lord Jesus, my Advocate, You stand before the Father on my behalf, offering mercy where I have stumbled, forgiveness where I have failed. You are the atoning sacrifice—not for me alone, but for the whole world. How great is Your love, that even in my weakness, You call me Your own.
As the night creatures stir and the stars emerge like scattered diamonds across the heavens, I rest in the assurance of Your righteousness. Let my heart not be troubled by the burdens of this day, for You have lifted them with hands pierced for my redemption.
Grant me, O Lord, a spirit of repentance and renewal. Shape my desires to reflect Your will, that I may walk in the light of Your truth. Teach me to love as You have loved—to extend grace to those around me, to speak kindness where there is hurt, and to seek peace where there is discord.
As I lay down to rest beneath the vast desert sky, may my soul be at peace, knowing that I am held in Your embrace. Keep me through the night, and awaken me with a heart ready to serve You anew.
In the name of Jesus Christ, my Redeemer and my Advocate, I pray.
Amen.
May the peace of Christ, who intercedes for us with boundless love, rest upon you this night, guiding your heart in grace and your spirit in peace.
