Praying the Scriptures

Friday Morning Prayer

March 28, 2025

My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous; and he is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. (1 John 2:1–2)

Gracious and merciful God,

As the morning sun stretches across the desert, painting the Florida Mountains with hues of gold and crimson, I turn my heart to You. The cool breeze carries the scent of new life, and I breathe deeply, grateful for another day under Your steadfast love.

Lord Jesus, my Advocate and Redeemer, I come before You with a humbled spirit. I know that I stumble, that my thoughts and actions do not always reflect the love You have called me to live out. Yet, Your Word assures me that I do not stand alone. You, the Righteous One, intercede for me. You are the atoning sacrifice not only for my sins but for the sins of the whole world. What grace! What mercy!

As I walk through this day, let me carry the light of Your forgiveness in my heart. May I reflect Your love in my words, Your kindness in my actions, and Your truth in my thoughts. Let me be slow to judge and quick to offer grace, remembering that I, too, am a recipient of boundless mercy.

Out here in the vastness of the Southwest, where the land meets the sky in an endless embrace, remind me that Your love knows no bounds. Just as the desert blooms after the rain, so, too, can my heart flourish when nourished by Your Spirit. Let me not take this day for granted but use it to serve, to love, and to bear witness to the hope I have in You.

In the name of Jesus Christ, my Savior and my Advocate, I pray.

Amen.

May the boundless love of Christ, our Advocate and Redeemer, guide your steps this day, filling your heart with His grace and your spirit with His peace.
