Praying the Scriptures

Wednesday Evening Prayer

March 26, 2025

The Lord is not slow about his promise, as some think of slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:9)

Heavenly Father,

As the sun sets behind the rugged peaks of the mountains, painting the sky in hues of crimson and gold, I come before You in the hush of this desert evening. The wind carries the scent of creosote and sage, whispering reminders of Your abiding presence. The coolness of the night settles in, and with it, I find a moment of stillness to reflect on Your steadfast love.

Lord, You are patient beyond measure, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance. In the vastness of this land, where time feels slower and the stars stretch endlessly above, I am reminded of the immensity of Your mercy. Though the world rushes forward, You wait—You wait for hearts to turn, for souls to seek, for the lost to find their way home.

Forgive me for the times I have been impatient, expecting Your promises to unfold on my timeline instead of trusting in Your perfect will. Help me to rest in the assurance that Your delay is not neglect but grace. You tarry because You love, You linger because redemption is still at work, and You wait because Your desire is that none should be lost.

As I close this day, may I mirror Your patience in my own heart. Teach me to love as You love, to pray for those who wander, and to trust in the unfolding of Your divine plan. Let my life be a light, even as the desert moon rises, casting its glow upon the land. May Your Spirit guide my steps and my words, that I might bear witness to the hope found in You.

In the name of Jesus, who is faithful and true, I pray.

Amen.

May the peace of Christ, who tarries in love and calls us to His perfect grace, rest upon you this night and guide your heart in patience and hope.
