Praying the Scriptures

Friday Morning Prayer

May 23, 2025

They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. (John 17:16-17)

Gracious Lord,

As the golden morning sun crests the Florida Mountains and casts long, gentle shadows across the desert floor, I lift my heart to You in quiet gratitude. The breeze carries the scent of mesquite and creosote, whispering to my soul that this day—like every day—is a sacred gift.

You have called me to live in this world but not to be shaped by it. In the stillness of this spring dawn, I remember that I belong to You. Let Your Word, which is truth, sanctify my thoughts and actions today. As the wildflowers bloom in forgotten arroyos and the quail scurry through the brush, remind me that holiness is not separation from the world, but consecration within it.

Help me to walk through this day as one set apart—not with pride, but with purpose. May my words reflect Your truth, my steps follow Your path, and my life bear witness to the grace You have poured into me.

Amen.

May you walk through this day grounded in God’s truth, set apart by grace, and radiant with the quiet strength of Christ’s love.
