Saturday Morning Prayer
May 24, 2025
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor. (Luke 4:18-19)
Gracious and Anointed Lord,
As the morning sun crests over the Florida Mountains and spills its golden warmth across the desert plain, I breathe in the newness of this spring day. The wind carries the scent of creosote and possibility, and I am reminded that Your Spirit is upon me—not for comfort alone, but for calling.
You have sent me, Lord, to bring good news to the poor, to speak healing into wounded hearts, to proclaim release for those bound by fear, and to open the eyes of those who cannot yet see Your grace. Let this very ground beneath my feet be sacred soil where justice blooms, where mercy flows like desert rain, and where hope rises with each breath of morning air.
Today, may I live into the year of Your favor. Open my ears to hear the cries of the overlooked, and my heart to walk gently with those who mourn. Let my words carry light and my steps bring peace, for I go not in my own strength, but in the power of the One who calls and equips.
Here I am, Lord—let this day be Yours.
Amen.
