Praying the Scriptures

Friday Evening Prayer

July 11, 2025

Let us approach with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. (Hebrews 10:22)

Gracious and Holy One,

As the last glow of sun slips behind Red Mountain and the hush of twilight settles over the desert, I come before You with a true heart—still, humbled, and washed anew. The air is warm and quiet, touched by the faint scent of creosote and sage, and as the first stars blink into view above me, I feel Your nearness pressing gently on my soul. I draw near not in fear, but in full assurance of faith, for You have sprinkled my conscience clean and bathed my spirit in mercy. Even the silence sings of Your presence tonight, and in this sacred stillness, I rest in the truth that You have made me whole.

So I lift this quiet offering of gratitude into the vast, starlit sky. Thank You for welcoming me again—not because I am worthy, but because You are faithful. Let this night mark not an ending, but a drawing nearer. Keep my heart true, Lord, and let my every breath echo the cleansing grace You’ve poured over me. Beneath this desert sky, I am Yours.

Amen.

May the peace of God, who draws near to those with true hearts, rest upon you beneath the stars and guide you gently through the night.
