Praying the Scriptures
Friday Evening Prayer
July 4, 2025
What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? (Romans 8:31–32)
Lord of Light and Liberty,
As the sun slips behind Red Mountain and paints the desert sky in soft gold and rose, I pause in the stillness of this evening to breathe in Your presence. The creosote’s sweet scent rises with the cooling air, and long shadows stretch gently across the sand—reminding me that even as daylight fades, Your promises remain unshaken.
On this Independence Day, I give thanks for the freedoms I enjoy—freedom to speak, to gather, to worship, and to hope. Yet above all, I praise You for the freedom that can never be legislated or taken away: the freedom I have in Christ. You did not withhold Your own Son but gave Him up for us all—and in Him, I have everything I need: forgiveness, courage, and a future secured by grace.
The world may shift like desert wind, and adversaries may rise like heat from the canyon floor, but Your Word grounds me: If You are for us, who can be against us? I trust that nothing—no power, no hardship, no fear—can separate me from Your love.
So tonight, under the deepening sky and stars beginning to blink into view, I rest in quiet assurance. Thank You for being my defender, my provider, and my Redeemer. Let my heart rise in freedom and my soul dwell in peace, now and always.
Amen.
May the God who is forever for us grant you peace this night, and may His boundless love be your strength and freedom always.
