Praying the Scriptures

Friday Morning Prayer

July 4, 2025

What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? (Romans 8:31–32)

O Lord of dawn and deliverance,

As the sun rises over the Florida Mountains, casting golden light across the quiet desert floor, I stand still in the hush of morning and breathe in the freedom of this new day. The creosote bushes stretch long shadows across the sand, and a mourning dove calls from the mesquite—gentle signs that You are near.

On this Fourth of July, my heart swells with gratitude—not only for the liberty I enjoy as a citizen of this land, but for the far deeper freedom I have through Christ. You did not withhold Your own Son but gave Him up for us all. What greater love could there be? What greater assurance could I carry than this: that You are for me, and no power—seen or unseen—can stand against me?

Thank You, Lord, for the blessings of provision, for the protection that surrounds me like the mountains themselves, and for the truth that in Christ, I am no longer a slave to fear or sin, but a child of grace and glory.

Help me today to walk in that freedom—not just in word, but in action. Let courage and compassion mark my steps. Let justice and mercy guide my voice. And let the fire of Your Spirit burn brighter than any fireworks, lighting up my heart with holy joy.

In the promise of this morning light and the steadfastness of Your love, I place my trust.

Amen.

May the God who gave His own Son for us fill your day with peace, courage, and the unshakable joy of true freedom in Christ.
