Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Evening Prayer
July 12, 2025
It is no longer I who live, but it is Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. (Galatians 2:20)
O Lord,
As I sit in the fading hush of this desert evening, the sun has slipped below Red Mountain, and shadows stretch long across the creosote and stone. The last brush of gold lingers low on the horizon, and above me, the stars begin to emerge—one by one—like quiet sentinels in the deepening blue.
In this sacred stillness, I remember the truth that steadies me: I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. How humbling that the life I live now—this fragile, flesh-bound journey—is shaped not by my strength, but by Your mercy, and the love of Your Son who gave Himself for me.
Lord, teach me again tonight to surrender what still clings to the old self. Let pride fall away like the last light on the mountain. Let fear dissolve into the dark like dust on the wind. And let Christ rise anew in me—His love steadying my breath, His peace guiding my rest.
Under this vast and holy sky, I offer myself to You again—no longer my own, but Yours.
Amen.
May the peace of Christ, who lives within you, guard your heart through the night and rise with you in the morning light.
