Praying the Scriptures
Saturday Evening Prayer
July 26, 2025
The LORD exists forever; your word is firmly fixed in heaven. Your faithfulness endures to all generations; you have established the earth, and it stands fast. By your appointment they stand today, for all things are your servants. (Psalm 119:89–91)
Lord,
The sun has just slipped behind Red Mountain, leaving the sky awash in soft hues of rose and violet. A stillness settles over the desert, and the hush of this sacred hour wraps around me like a gentle cloak. The creosote bushes stand quiet in the fading light, their shadows long and their leaves still. The mesquite trees hold their breath. All creation seems to wait.
And then—one by one—the stars appear. Tiny, faithful lights in the vast canopy above. Your Word, Lord, is like that. Constant. Unshaken. Firmly fixed in heaven, just as the psalmist declared. Even as the day ends and darkness gently rises, I am reminded: Your faithfulness endures beyond the reach of time. You spoke this earth into being, and it stands fast, rooted in Your command, obedient to Your will.
Here in this desert, beneath a sky that remembers ancient light, I rest in that truth. I may not always understand the path ahead, but I trust the One who orders the stars and steadies the earth. All things are Your servants—even the silence, even the night.
So I lift my heart in quiet praise. Thank You for the beauty that surrounds me, for the peace that settles with the cooling breeze, and for Your Word that never fails. You are eternal. You are near. And You are faithful.
Amen.
May the unshakable Word of the Lord guide your rest tonight, and may His eternal faithfulness watch over you beneath the stars.
